More Makers & Less Takers

Transmedia, new media, social media - there are lot of terms connection fragmented media - but no real ideas connecting or complimenting the multiple media contexts. this state of incunabula is quite demoralising. the new mediums are not exactly new anymore and we need to start using them better than spending energies to understand them. producing content, never helps understand a medium but experiments. make less but get more to try - am sure learning will follow

NY High Line

The high line is a great example of a vision becoming a way of life. There is no doubt that america loves action, activity, doers. this is a country that celebrates people and their actions. America is not the land for thinkers, but it is for those and about those who can set goals and achieve them. The Sky line is a symbol of this culture, if one polled the number of people running in large urban cities, NY would beat both (human race).  The walk also does another thing it bridges, classic american iconism to modern design thinking. It is always great if design can mixed into everyday life, it tends to change behavior. The Skyline is a powerful idea that works every second of its existence and provides the people with a mission a stage to live their mission.   A walk where you become the train and you wait for yourself to arrive

idea killer

good, bad, big, small, cheap, priceless and idea can be any or all of this. an idea can be discussed, thrown around, bounced, explored and developed. it finds its own life, its own interpretation and its own meanings . an idea can self manifest, it can assume different forms, proportions, shapes and sizes. but if you  ask the question, what is an idea and you will probably hear a lot of answers but rarely does one hear the kind of clarity that  satiates than the doubt than the doubt that makes you seek a better answer. why does the subject leave you with so many questions than answers. why is an idea so elusive and so rare and why is there so much confusion around - what is a good idea. the other big debate is whether the idea is  a product of the conscious or the subconscious mind.   if semiotics is the study of meanings itself, then the world needs ideaotics - the study of ideas. plato, in his study of ideas, asserts that non-material abstract forms, and not the material w

Powerless - lost and found

They say stories are created around highlights and twilights, reality and spectacle, narratives and subtexts. But when you are not the creator but part of the story as it unfolds, even better, if you are in the story and you are the star yet helpless and powerless... is it possible to have stories with no stars. although it is action packed. with highs and lows. fears and delights. uptight pride and downright submission... one single person is not controlling it ?

K aiser Chiefs unveiled their new record yesterday, custom-tailored to each buyer's specification. The Future Is Medieval exists purely in digital form on the UK band's website, where fans can pick ten tracks from a possible twenty, design their own artwork and track-listing and then download the entire thing for £7.50 (about $11 AUD) to keep. It's an awesome, interactive process whereby listeners can preview the songs and then 'plug' them into the machine which pumps out the record. Says singer Ricky Wilson , "We’re quite excited about this. Why not make an album yourself? We wanted to reward the fans for being our fans and thought this could be nice." In an added twist that could only have developed in the social media age, the band have created an added incentive for people to actually pay for these songs. Having compiled your album and customised the artwork, you can sell your version of it to other people visiting the website –
